We will travel to teach and perform free surgeries for the patients with incapacitating knee arthritis who could not afford the surgeries otherwise. We spend the last year screening the patients and establishing protocols with local surgeons. We have a large corporate grant from Stryker, who again generously provided the implants as well as numerous pieces of equipment to make the mission possible. We also want to thank many individuals at UCSD and Scripps Green Hospital without whose help this mission would not be possible.
Last but not least thanks to Gatelet's gift of their talents they build us a secure donation site so your money can go directly to the cause! We are looking for your generous donations so supplement patient needs for hospital stay and rehabilitation. Our patient's do not have insurance and have to come up with the antibiotic costs and therapy costs out of pocket. We need your help, please donate!
Our dream is to establish premier surgical education site in Armenia. The mission of the site would be to improve surgical education in Armenia and the region by building collaborations with surgeons in the diaspora. We will work with local authorities and philanthropic organizations and individuals to build a world class teaching surgical facility to attract trainees from within the country and the Caucasus region.
UCSD medical mission, setting up a collaboration between UCSD and MWCT. We will be actively involved with setting up initiatives to educate about the negative impact and hopefully abolish female genital mutilation practices in the area.
Trek2Share is going to Armenia. We leave on Aug 27. Our mission is to provide free joint replacements to patients who have lost their mobility, yet cannot afford to see a doctor. We will also provide education to local orthopaedic surgeons interested in modern techniques of arthroplasty. Read more...
Last year our Mt. Kilimanjaro fundraiser raised enough funds to help buy an ambulance for the Maasai. Through your support, a collaboration was born which will hopefully link volunteer doctors from University of California San Diego with the doctor in the village helping this program grow. We are walking to help others in need. You could choose to support our ambulance project, or donate toward an Xray machine,
medical supplies, or other equipment — plant a seed and watch it grow!
